Β Β POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer is responsible for Overseeing that Facilities Planning and Construction department is meeting the departmental goals including staffing needs, planning, and project management. This position will provide management assistance related to the district's capital improvement projects, use independent judgment and discretion to perform other related duties as required.Β Approximately 20% of work will be spent in the field and in the planning stages of construction to include: coordination of design teams, plan reviews, and project budget development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Represents the District and District interests regarding planning, permitting, and county zoning issues including:
represents the school district at county planning staff reviews, requests for rezoning, zoning amendments, subdivisions, conditional uses and encroachments.
monitors and reports revisions to zoning ordinance, works with appropriate committees and sub-committees
provides relevant information to the planning and zoning commission
monitors and provides input on annexation requests
compiles and develops collected data into reports concerning planning issues
provides technical and advisory services to municipal, county and school district staff as required
attends all appropriate meetings as well as prepares the necessary information for the meeting, researches issues, writes papers and provides zoning and planning information.
Responsible for assisting in the districts short and long-range planning activities
Oversees capital projects to ensure that they are delivering a quality project on-time an on-budget
provide project coordination on special projects
creates and monitors the department's public relations. project information should be readily available to the public
monitors student projections and provides input to principals
perform all other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Chief Operational Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge of basic principals of construction management including RFI's, CO's, submittal approvals, schedule of values, pay apps, etc.
EXPERIENCE:
Bachelorβs Degree in engineering, architecture, planning, or construction management/science or other related field from an accredited institution.Β Three years minimum related construction experience with K-12 experience preferred.
Knowledge ofΒ Principles, practices, procedures, rules, codes, regulations, contract administration (particularly with AIA documents), techniques and strategies of public school construction, and assigned responsibilities
Construction management principles, functions, and activities. Familarity with construction industry standards and costs
Architectural/engineering design and procedures.
Principles and techniques of providing successful leadership and conflict management skills.
Effective project management skills.
Proficient computer technology and software skills, include scheduling software, Microsoft Office suite and Construction project management software such as Projectmates.
Ability toΒ manage the operations of the assigned office/department/services.
Read, interpret and apply legal mandates, policies, rules, regulations and operational procedures pertaining to school and departmental operations.
Effectively and efficiently performΒ responsible management functions, duties and activities.
Develop goals and objectives.
Establish and meet schedules and timelines.
