Enterprise WAN Transport Operations Technician Job Category: Engineering and Technical Support Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% Type of Travel: Continental US CACI has an exciting and immediate opportunity for Enterprise WAN Transport Operations Technician s to support the USAF Network Operations Security Center (NOSC). This position works at the customer on-site Tier 3 support location at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. This is a shift work position in a work center providing 24x7x365 support. Shaw AFB is conveniently located. A 2-hour drive to the north gets you to Charlotte, NC, to the east is Myrtle Beach, and Charleston, SC is to the south. You’ll have access to big city excitement, a quiet beach walk or small town Southern hospitality, whatever you prefer. You’ll get to use leading edge technology as you sustain and defend the networks our Air Force warfighters use in the CENTCOM theater. What You’ll Get to Do: * Troubleshoot and develop solutions with LAN/WAN protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).
* Configure, monitor and trouble-shoot IP/MPLS backbone network.
* Assist with the installation and configuration of WAN transport systems as directed.
* Develop standardized testing and cutover plans for new WAN equipment.
* Establish testing and remote monitoring procedures to ensure reliable operation of WAN transport in theater.
* Collect networking metrics for analysis to determine sub-standard network performance both remotely and locally. Analyze a myriad of networking metrics and recognize sub-par network performance.
* Configure and troubleshoot QOS involving policing, shaping, and queuing.
* Report system and network documented finds for analysis and trending of bandwidth and network security incidents.
* Operate network intrusion devices specific to the Department of Defense as well as many commercial information assurance tools.
* Provide first-level technical support to deployed users, escalates complex problems as required.
* Act as a consultant and provide feedback to the government to optimize the WAN transport networks.
* Identify and evaluate the operational impact of all outages.
* Report Communication status to higher headquarters as needed.
* Coordinate with external agencies for outage resolution as required by local policy.
* Perform notifications when outages occur IAW local policies, notification matrix, and any other SOPs, policy, and instructions.
* Prepare and deliver daily communication status report as required.
* Publish daily communication status received from all sites.
* Publish Communication Task Orders (CTO) and Notice to Airman (NOTAM) as required. You’ll Bring These Qualifications: * Provide on-call support via cell phone after hours, on weekends and holidays as required.
* Deploy/travel to OCONUS locations in the USCENTCOM AOR to support sustainment operations, projects, and training as required (up to 25%).
Travel to CONUS locations as required. * Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to start date. * Associates in related field and 3 or more years’ experience; OR 5 or more years’ of relevant experience. * DoD 8570 IAT II Baseline Certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Sec or equivalent). * Completion of additional Professional Certifications within 6 months of your start date to remain on the program.
