We foster an inclusive environment that offers opportunities for team members to continually learn, develop their skills and take on new challenges to progress in their careers.Job Summary This new strategic leadership role is part of AB’s Global Business Development Organization, building a new capability to create a new “Information Center of Excellence”, bringing together data across the organization globally allowing for greater transparency and flexibility across internal groups.

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) will be senior level role responsible for setting the overall data/information strategy, analytics, client reporting, and data governance across the firm’s Client Group functions.

This includes execution/usage of the data and information used for new business development globally, client servicing purposes, and in many cases, global regulatory and legal requirements.The CDO will be a change agent, creating a new environment within the Client Group that makes a broad range of accurate data and information with clear usage protocols, accessible to more staff.

This will elevate data from multiple sources, and their usage, in ways that create tangible information advantages and business value for AllianceBernstein, clients, and stakeholders (SBU Heads, Regional Sales Heads, Head of Tech & Ops, COO, etc.).The data and information included within the scope of the CDO for our Global Business Development Organization include, but are not limited to:Centralization of access to:firm-level data and information (AUM, etc.)strategy-level data and information (fees, vehicles, etc.)fund-level data and information (identifying info such as ISINs, investor concentration, etc.);portfolio/account-level characteristics and data (attribution, holdings, sector breakdowns)investment personnel data (oversee and maintain bios, D, associated portfolios, personal investments, etc.)ESG-related data across various internal groups (examples, exposures, history, external ratings, etc.)Oversee market & competitive intelligence data usage across the Client Group (Morningstar, eVestment, Broadridge, MMI, Preqin, etc.)Development and governance of “best practices” around usage and legal requirements of all the data mentioned aboveJob DescriptionSpecific responsibilities include but are not limited to:Creating a vision for how all aspects of data and information will be managed and used by the Client Group globally for new business development and client servicing purposes.

The CDO will then become the become the ambassador for that vision: a “change agent” charged with re-engineering how the Global Business Development Organization, and Client Group more broadly, uses data and information.Directing and managing the sourcing of, integrity of, governance of, organization of, and management and maintenance of such data and information (across internal and external systems).Setting policies and procedures for how the Global Business Development Organization sources and maintains all information used in new business development globally and in servicing our clients (data life cycle management), and will oversee the execution of those processes, overseeing the usage throughout the Client Group.Creating greater accessibility to such data and information through the creation of front-end tools such as dashboards, output templates, and proactive change notifications.Partnering with Client Service and Client Service Response Group to define, develop, and manage a new “intake” process for new client servicing requests.

Determine how best to meet the client request.Overseeing the various workstreams to seamlessly bring together disparate systems and teamsJob Qualifications & Key AttributesThe ideal candidate should have:15 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of the buy side asset management / distribution business.Leadership skills: Possess strong leadership qualities and credibility within the organization and have strong persuasive abilities.

He or she will be charged with setting policies for data usage across the organization and requiring adoption and adherence to those policies, and will need to be able to move cross-functional groups in a unified direction (with the credibility to do so).Execution skills: Results-driven, highly creative yet also exceptionally execution-focused.

He or she will be highly organized and have an ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects and meet tight deadlines.

This requires a focus on execution to enhance internal operational efficiencies, reduce associated costs, improve risk management, and enable the firm to effectively support new Strategies, Funds, Structures (ETFs), etc.Collaboration skills: Ability to work with ALL levels across the organization and across business groups (Technology, Sales, Legal, RFP, Client Service, Investment Heads, etc.).

Create, forge and maintain strong working relationships with our Technology organization, as they will be partnering together on both strategic and tactical projects and initiatives.Communication skills: Capable of conveying not only the broad, high-level vision to internal stakeholders, but also be able to communicate more tangible and specific objectives and requirements clearly as well.

He or she will be able to convey highly technical information with clarity and precision in an engaging and convincing manner to a broad range of internal stakeholders.Technical skills: Strong project management & MS Office knowledge is required, with programming experience (Power BI & Python a plus), and familiarity with systems, such as Morningstar Direct, Broadridge, Bloomberg, and eVestmentBachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, and/or Information SystemsCFA or MBA is desiredLocationNashville, TN, USLI-SB1Nashville, Tennessee
