EHS Field Services Specialist (2201018)– Seneca, SC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be the single point of contact for all contractors working at the BASF Seneca facility. You will be responsible for oversight of the contractors in all areas including day-to-day safety oversight, safe work task performance, scheduling & onboarding training. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between the plant operating units, project management, EHS and the contractors for service/project related activities.

Qualifications – BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

Leveraging your technical expertise and motivational skills to manage and improve contractor safety, you will drive BASF EHS Excellence during contractor work execution by monitoring contractor safety programs, increasing contractor’s safety awareness, and assisting the project team in the realization of its EHS goals.

Demonstrating your excellent communication skills and strategic thinking, you will frequently interact with project, construction, and construction/TAR contractor personnel responsible for directing the activity of contractors. You will also be involved in local contractor safety forums, as well as periodically attend the contractor companies’ safety meetings where appropriate.

Your unique ability to influence others, gain concurrence and ultimately obtain resolution on a diverse range of topic will be essential, as you engage co-workers, contractors, and supervision in discussions related to contractor safety topics and work with personnel to improve contractor safety culture in a non-confrontational manner, while ensuring compliance with BASF and project EHS requirements and principals.

Your exceptional leadership and team building skill will be essential, as you help drive an effective contractor safety EHS culture. You will use your experience in Construction Field Occupational Health and Safety Supervision.

Your effective interpersonal communication skills will serve you well as you provide a single point of contact to facilitate communication with the contractors in support of capital and expense initiatives. You will also use these skills to communicate to the appropriate internal resources to assist contractors and production with the Safe Work Permitting process.

Demonstrating your leadership and supervisory skills, you will provide oversight to the contractor by managing contractors in Avetta and oversee their day-to-day safety in the field.

Using your solid computer skills, you will prepare progress reports for management.

Thinking efficiently, you will develop and implement a system to effectively manage contractor work requests from production departments to integrate all safety aspects of their work.

Following up with a keen attention to detail, you will provide contractor safety EHS onboarding training, manage Avetta contractor status along with reviewing and approving Avetta exemptions, validating work was done safely and successfully, thus ensuring that contractors follow all BASF and federal OSHA requirements.

Utilizing your ability to manage contractors, you will manage the sites Emergency Response/Emergency Systems (ERT equipment maintenance, ERT equipment inspections, fire suppression & alarm systems, emergency alarm system, etc.)

Your unwavering commitment to supporting a strong safety culture will be evident as you review Safe Work Permits for contractor work including all project and general contractor expense work by performing safety and environmental compliance audits to meet BASF compliance measurements.
