Emergency Planning Hazards Analyst


This is a Contract position in Aiken, SC posted June 20, 2022.

DUTIES Support the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering (N&CSE) organization in the development of emergency preparedness documentation for various nuclear facilities at the Savannah River Site (SRS). As a Junior Emergency Planning Analyst (SGL 28 – Engineer/Scientist), primary duties are to participate in the development, preparation, and/or review of All-Hazards Surveys, Emergency Planning Hazards Assessments (EPHAs) and related technical documents. This includes participating in planning and hazards analysis meetings, developing accident analyses using barrier analysis (i.e., failure of engineered barrier, failure of administrative barrier or control), and performing Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) and Emergency Action Level (EAL) evaluations This may also include performing consequence assessments using the ALOHA, HotSpot, or related computer codes. Work Hours: Work Hours: Work will be on an as needed basis but may include full-time. When full-time, SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, four days per-week on week A and B and 8 hours on fifth day of week A). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has an unpaid 30-minute lunch break. Extended work hours and workdays are to be expected on occasion with this position. The specific work schedule will be defined based on the specific work assignment. Area Security Access: Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance. Supplier shall possess a positive FOCI determination from DOE which includes the L security clearance level (or Q if a Q cleared candidate is proposed). An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on work assignments. Candidate who has had an active L or Q clearance within the past two years is preferred. Education Degree in applicable Engineering or Science discipline. PhD and prior relevant experience, Master’s degree (MS preferred) and prior relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree (BS preferred) and 1 years relevant work experience required. (Alternate degrees will be considered when combined with significant relevant experience. Experience/Skills Prior experience with implementation of DOE O 151.1C/151.1D Comprehensive Emergency Management System and/or its implementing Guide DOE G 151.1-2 Technical Planning Basis Experience in using ALOHA, HotSpot, or related codes Previous relevant experience at SRS Prior experience providing nuclear safety support to facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex or nuclear industry Prior experience reviewing or developing EPHAs and/or All-Hazards Surveys Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance
