Technical Service Team Leader

This is a Full-time position in York, SC posted June 23, 2022.

The incumbent of this position must be knowledgeable of the uses, chemistry and processing of elastomers with experience in customer support, people leadership and project management. Application areas include electronics, automotive/electric vehicles, industrial molding, rubber extrusion, healthcare and textile coatings. The range of elastomers requires an understanding of different cure systems, rheological characterization methods and compounding methods. The candidate will be responsible for working within the business and R&I teams to prioritize and allocate resources to support prioritized markets and opportunities. Project leadership responsibilities will include initiating, planning, implementing, management and execution of application and product development projects. The candidate will be expected to interact with all levels of personnel within the organization with a focus on open communication with the Commercial and Business Development teams in setting and implementing strategic projects for the growth of the business. Direct customer interaction and travel (primarily domestic) are required.

The individual must be an independent, self-starter and extremely self-motivated to maintain focus on the deliverables associated with new product development projects.

Job Requirements:

§ Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering preferred

§ Prior manager/supervisory experience required which includes experience coaching senior professionals 

§ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a chemical or polymer manufacturing environment required, preferably with silicones.

§ Project Management methodology experience (Stage Gate preferred) related to the development of new chemical formulations and/or processes

§ Good leadership skills with experience directing, motivating, developing and educating various levels of personnel

§ Strong verbal and written communication skills

§ Good interpersonal skills and ability to use these skills to develop working relationships with external customers and internal stakeholders

§ Proven safety focus in an industrial chemical environment

§ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Design of Experiments software

§ Travel approximately 20-25%
