The Undergraduate Academic Advisor I provides individualadvising to approximately 300 assigned students (first-yearstudents, transfer students, continuing caseload of students or acombination) to assist in transitioning to college, academicplanning and progression, and engagement on campus. Advisorspossess a working knowledge of college curriculums, universitypolicy, and campus resources. Advisors communicate and meetregularly with students, their assigned College, and the UniversityAdvising Center. In addition, this position must maintain anaverage advising schedule of 30 hours per week, manage studentcaseloads, participate in on-going training and certification, hostvarious outreach events, intervene with students, and regularly useavailable technologies to ensure accurate and effective advising.Under general supervision, this position requires strong criticalthinking, memorization, attention to detail, and communicationskills, as well as the ability to work independently whiledeveloping strong collaborative relationships with colleagues,students, and student affairs and academic affairs units. Theindividual must be able to exercise excellent professionaljudgement and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis thatimpact student welfare and the institution.
