Position Summary

Develop local vision and strategy to drive operational excellence through continuous improvement program initiatives and deployments. As the location/area subject matter expert, the Sr CI Manager will assess, determine, and utilize lean implementation strategies and experiences to lead the organization through the lean transformation journey.

*This can be a remote position with approximately 50% travel through the U.S. There are approximately 40 locations nationally, with major facilities in San Diego, CA, Libertyville, IL, Chester, NY and Spartanburg, SC. Close proximity to a major airport is preferred.

Duties

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to plan, organize, and implement an array of established Continuous Improvement methods, practices, and tools ranging from basic to complex for more efficient and effective operations and processes, including those of a multi-faceted or intricate nature.
  • Lead CI/Lean strategy at designated areas/locations which may include multiple locations or a broader area of responsibility.
  • Direct involvement with the operations/process improvement.
  • Work in a collaborative, action-oriented, self-motivated manner to build support for change and transformation.
  • Lead, train, develop, motivate, and coach the team in the development of a lean culture.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business

Required Experience

  1. Requires 11+ years of demonstrated, qualified lean experience in a leadership role.
  2. Requires one successful brownfield lean transformations or equivalent transformation experience.
  3. In depth knowledge, demonstrated understanding, and demonstrated application of various lean tools: Toyota Production System and methodologies , A3 Development and Management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, TPM, QCO-SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built In Quality, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri – SDP X Matrix, and Lean ROI.
  4. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to integrate safety, ergonomics, 5S, and other critical business requirements and techniques within CI/lean and practices.
  5. 2 – 3 year’s experience managing CI/Lean initiatives in a multi-site, multi-division situation and/or larger, more complex operation.
  6. Lean certification from a recognized independent technical organization. Bronze certification from AME/SME or the ability to certify within 6 months in role.
  7. Ability to work autonomously in most situations with only general guidance and reliance on Corporate Lean Standards.
  8. Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of a variety of lean tools: Toyota Production System and methodologies such as: A3 Development and Management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, TPM, QCO-SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built In Quality, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri – SDP X Matrix, and Lean ROI.
  9. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to integrate safety, ergonomics and 5S requirements within CI/ lean and practices.
  10. Preferred experience with Shingijutsu consultants and mentoring by a recognized competent lean consultancy.
  11. Ability to manage priorities for limited multi-site responsibility if assigned.

Preferred Experience

  1. Experience in working within a matrix environment reporting to Lean organization and taking local direction from Site Director.
  2. Knowledge and us of Lean, data analysis, and project management tools.
  3. Excellent organizational skills, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  4. Must have strong ability to influence team members to shift to continuous improvement methods.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  6. Ability to lead and develop team members.
  7. Proficient with MS Office Office products.
