Technical Product Manager

The Technical Product Manager owns the lifecycle for one or more data services applications within the GoodUnited product suite. They combine a strong hands-on technical background with the ability to define and execute on a product roadmap with the support of senior leadership. The TPM is highly analytical and adept at leveraging technologies to build high-quality, streamlined products. The ideal candidate has built software utilizing modern, cloud-based architectures.

What does a Technical Product Manager do at GoodUnited?:

  • Build a deep understanding of customers, both internal and external, through the discovery process, translate insights into a product vision and detailed product requirements.
  • Prioritize relentlessly, define clear acceptance criteria, prioritize tradeoffs, manage the backlog.
  • Leverage agile software development practices to rapidly turn requirements into high-quality products.
  • Communicate status of product development to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in technical discussions, applying appropriate technology solutions to solve business problems.

What experience and skills does a Technical Product Manager need to be successful here?:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in a hands-on technical role, preferably in a cloud-based, service-oriented or microservices architecture. Experience designing and implementing APIs (GraphQL and/or REST) a plus.
  • 1-2 years experience in a product management role responsible for taking products through the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate product details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with AWS technologies, like EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda preferred.
