What youโ€™ll do as a Crew Leader at Lewis:

  • Leadย a tight-knit crew, creatingย and promotingย aย positiveย team environmentย 
  • Interpret tree trimming, removal and spraying orders initiated by General Foreman or representative of the customerย 
  • Plan and layout daily work forย yourย crew.ย (Consideringย time required to complete work, clean-up time, equipment available, weather conditions, customerโ€™s permission, etc.)ย ย 
  • Perform a Pre-Job Hazard Survey at each job site with all crew members and assigns work tasks based on an individual's knowledge skills and abilities.ย ย 
  • Performย line clearing and tree trimmingย dutiesย forย Lewis Tree Serviceโ€™sย utilityย customersย includingย pruning treetopsย and limbs,ย trimming or removal ofย at-risk/damaged trees as well as removing broken limbs from wires, roofs,ย etc.ย 
  • Climb treesย and operate a bucketย for trimming and removals in and above the power lines.ย 
  • Prepare,ย operateย and maintainย all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.ย 
  • Removeย limbsย and brush, cleanup and disposeย of debris.ย ย 
  • Mixingย and applyย spray chemicals, preserving desirable vegetationย 
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area.ย 
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices.ย

What youโ€™ll need:

  • Twoย years or moreย experienceย workingย as a Trimmer/Climber, working around utilityย lines.
  • Ability to lead peopleย including strong communication skillsย 
  • Knowledgeย of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing, as applicable to workingย close toย energized conductors.ย 
  • Experience in tree climbing, knot tying andย PPEย 
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, line equipment, etc.ย 
  • Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.รขย€ยฏย 
  • Capable of operating two-handed equipment (chain saw, circular saw, etc.) and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances.รขย€ยฏย 
  • Have a valid driverโ€™s license, CDL and/or medical certificate required for the vehicle being operated.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests
