GENERAL PURPOSE:

To develop and coordinate the inbound flow of international merchandise from international and domestic sources to multiple retail distribution centers. A high level of service must be provided at an economical level meeting Ross service and expense requirements. Β This position will interface with freight forwarders, Custom’s brokers, steamship lines, carriers, vendors, and Ross departments as appropriate.Β 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs and provide analytical data to support results
  • Develop and implement the transportation plan for international inbound freight from international Ross vendors to DCs inclusive of customs compliance.Β 
    • Provide analysis and support to the inbound group in all areas of inbound international transportation, including transportation scheduling, tracking, tracing and invoice auditing. Β 
    • Responsible for the analysis and execution of optimal freight levels for multiple DC’s based on productivity requirements
  • Support high level of customer service to multiple divisions with Ross and dd’s to resolve any transportation-related issues or problems
  • Responsible for all communication both internal and external with regards to international freight movements.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining Ross Standard Operating Procedures. Β Responsible to measure adherence to Ross SOP.
  • Assist with any projects requested by the international supervisor
  • Responsible to maintain master files for Ross international documents

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company.
  • High level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Excellent Β analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Must have 4-6 years experience in an international or transportation atmosphere
  • 2-5 years customer service experience
  • Must have 2 years experience with transportation tracking system or equivalent
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in work experience
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work aggressively to complete projects

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in Transportation or Logistics
  • 7-8 years of international transportation operations\\staff experience with knowledge of carrier logistics.
  • 4-6 years of customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of international documents, Custom’s regulations and tariffs.
  • Experience with Manugistics Transportation Module
  • Experience with hands-on utilization of current supply-chain software applications and systems.
  • Transportation background within the retail industry
