Maintenance Worker - Roads & Drainage

MAINTENANCE WORKER (Roads & Drainage – North & South*):  Under direct supervision performs manual or semi-skilled work within the Public Works department, which may involve general public works projects, roads and drainage projects, sign installation/maintenance projects, or other projects within the assigned department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  
•    High school diploma or GED
•    Vocational/technical training in vehicle operation
•    One (1) year maintenance and equipment operation experience involving public works projects, road/drainage projects, sign installation projects, equipment operation/maintenance, and manual work
•    Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license with good driving record
•    May require possession and maintenance of valid Work Zone Safety certification.
•    Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
