POSITION: PARAMEDIC


REPORTS TO: Paramedic Field Supervisor


Shift:Β 12-hour (day or night)

Our paramedics are partnered with highly qualified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who provide additional care and support.




Paramedics at Thorne Ambulance Service are offered regular training opportunities to improve upon current knowledge, and to add new skills. Our paramedics, in time, are offered opportunities to serve as Field Training Officers, Field Supervisors, Operations Managers, and more. Position Requirements:



  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire

  • Must possess a high school Diploma or GED (degree preferred)

  • Must have and maintain certification as a State & Nationally Registered Paramedic

  • Must possess:Β 

    1. a valid and current BLS for Healthcare Providers credential

    2. Current ACLS credential

    3. PHTLS & PALS (preferred)

    4. Defensive Driving Credential (preferred)

    5. NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800 (preferred)



  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills




Job Responsibilities:



  • Works as a team to successfully oversee a single ambulance operation.

  • Response to and completion of requests for service in accordance with organizational policy, industry standards, and provider scope of practice.

  • Timely and accurate completion of patient care reports, utilizing strong written communication skills.

  • Direct patient care including the provision of basic and advanced life support.

  • Completion of daily unit check sheets, ensuring all equipment is on-board, in proper working condition, and in date.

  • Maintenance of station(s) and unit(s) in accordance with organizational policy

  • Other duties as assigned




Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move 150lbs independently (300lbs with a partner)

  • Able and willing to be seated, standing, walking, etc. for lengthy periods of time.

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

  • Ability to successfully mitigate stressful situations with co-worker, healthcare providers, patients, and the general public

  • Flexibility to respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service at any given time while assigned to a shift, including up until, and beyond, scheduled β€œoff” times.
