About Us
The Goose Creek Rural Fire Department is a combination paid/volunteer fire department in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Our primary coverage area is the unincorporated areas of Goose Creek. We provide full-time coverage with both part-time and volunteer staff. We protect a district of over 600 residential homes, 5 shopping centers, 3 schools, 13 apartment complexes, 11 industrial facilities, and a population of over 20,000. We provide free training to members ranging from entry level to advanced for all positions in the department. Once basic training is completed, all members are required to work a specific number of shifts in the station.
Job Position Description
Responsibilities include:
- Fire Suppression
- Emergency Medical Response
- Fire Prevention and Public Education
- Maintaining training requirements and participate in all station training
- Perform station upkeep and maintenance, to including the building and grounds
- Complete a minimum of 6 12-hour duty shifts each month
Qualifications
- NFPA Firefighter II
- Emergency Medical Responder (or Higher) and CPR
- Emergency Vehicle Driver Training
- South Carolina Class E Driver's License
- Pump Operations 1

Compensation: $10.00/hour with increase to $11.00/hour or more depending on qualifications.
