Under the supervision of a pharmacist working in the Central Pharmacy, Infusion Therapy Pharmacy and/or the OR Satellite are: drug distribution services, order entry functions, clerical functions, the preparation of pharmaceutical doses and IV admixtures, maintaining adequate inventory levels of in date pharmaceuticals in each pharmacy location and on nursing units, maintaining personal professional competency as a State Certification Pharmacy Technician, aiding performance improvement activities and performs any other job related duties as requested by a pharmacist or pharmacy management. Technicians scheduled primarily in the Infusion Therapy Pharmacy assists with Indigent Patient Drug Recovery / Assistance programs for the patients served in this area.
Must be currently certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, (PTCB), and registered in good standing as a "Certified Pharmacy Technician" with the SC Board of Pharmacy. (This requires being a graduate of an approved Pharmacy Technician program and by having submitted documentation for their required number of work experience hours as a pharmacy technician or having met requirements to be grandfathered in by 2004). Must have basic typing skills and a working knowledge of computers and equipment utilized in the preparation, repackaging, dispensing and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
