Dorn VAMC is affiliated with the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine and provides teaching services for students and residents. The staff Urologist is accountable to the Chief, Urology Department, to provide the most effective delivery of Urological care throughout the medical center in compliance with VA and VHA Directives, American Urological Association standards, and The Joint Commission accreditation standards. Our busy outpatient clinics as well as operating room are capable of most urological procedures. The candidate also provides a variety of services including pre-operative patient exam and assessment and performs all aspects of Adult Urological Surgery including treatment of lesions, biopsies, urological laser procedures, enucleation, stent insertion, and prostate surgery. Provides urology-related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, ICU, ward, and clinic settings as needed, to include on-call coverage. Provides critical care related direct care. The incumbent may also be involved in program planning, objectives, policies, and standards essential to delivery of quality Urological care.
