Duties

The Assistant Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Nurse Manager functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the operation of the department. This will include the management, supervision and evaluation of care delivered by nursing and other allied health care personnel.

Major Duties

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for direct patient care assignments, organizing, directing, and leading a diverse group of employees in the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.
  • The incumbent demonstrates a high level of expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to manage complex health conditions utilizing evidence based nursing standards of practice.
  • Serves as a change agent utilizing effective communication and listening skills to implement improvements in patient care.
  • Demonstrates the skills necessary to coordinate, and/or identify discipline-specific education,and contribute to the professional growth and development of personnel.
  • This RN is a nurse supervisor and provides oversight for staffing, counseling, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
  • In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, initiates interdisciplinary projects to improve organizational/departmental performance and evaluates the effect on patient care.
  • In the absence of the Nurse Manager, maintain accountability 24/7 for professional nursing practice in assigned area.
  • This position is 80% Clinical and 20% Administrative.

Preferred Experience: GI experience preferred but not required. Managerial experence preferred.
