Duties

  • Serve as the Naval Health Clinic Charleston (NHCC) Safety and Occupational Health Specialist ensuring a safe and healthy work environment is provided for personnel and a safe environment of care is maintained for patients and visitors.
  • Review proposed equipment procurement requests to ensure the appropriate safety measures are taken.
  • Manage Safety and Occupational Health programs in accordance with OSHA, OPNAV and BUMED requirements
  • Conduct surveys of facilities and operations to evaluate the effectiveness of safety standards and practices to assess the degree of compliance with applicable mandates, standards, and directives.
  • Analyze mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine where it originated and the cause and contributing factors followed by written reports regarding the findings
  • Provide safety training and education activities, promoting safety awareness through councils, courses and online training.
  • Advise the Command on local policies and regional planning involving safety, health, and environmental issues.
