The Senior Library Assistant (Bookmobile North)Β performs more senior Library support functions and circulation desk duties. Responsibilities include: providing customer service to patrons; collecting overdue fines and fees; placing requests for materials that are not currently available; submitting applications for library cards; checking in materials and shelving; and attaching barcodes, detection devices, or appropriate labels.
β’ Performs circulation desk activities, which includes: searching for items via the computer and physically looking in the stacks; pulling materials for holds or projects; assisting patrons in utilizing computers; and performing other related activities.
β’ Performs routine Library maintenance activities, which includes: cleaning and repairing library materials; cleaning and dusting computer areas and shelves; replenishing materials in machines; monitoring inventory and procuring replenishment items; pulling old materials for recycling; labeling shelves; and, performing other related activities.
β’ Provides customer service to patrons including: issuing new Library cards and/or update accounts, respond to questions; collects overdue fines, explain Library policies and procedures; give directions; assists staff and patrons with technology issues, and performing other related activities.
β’ Researches call numbers for accurate item placement in catalogs; cleans up and updates records, and labels books according to type of material.
β’ Performs a variety of support duties which may include repairing Library books for re-entry into the circulation system; opening and closing Library facilities; processing interlibrary loans; and/or other related duties.
β’ Sorts and packs/unpacks materials for lending between branches.
β’ Assists in training new employees and volunteers
β’ Performs special projects as assigned
β’ Checks SCLENDS catalog for existing records.
β’ Imports and overlays records from OCLC.
β’ Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level.
