Β Introduction/Job Purpose:

The Water Quantity Permitting Geologist/Hydrologist IΒ support the implementation of the Groundwater Permitting Program for the State. Assists with Permitting and Registration of Groundwater Withdrawers statewide. Performs professional hydrogeologic duties by reviewing applications and evaluating and analyzing reports to help develop, implement, and track the water use information and water quantity permits in South Carolina.

Job Duties:Β 

  • Assist with implementing the Groundwater Permitting for the State. Assists with permitting of groundwater withdrawals. Performs professional hydrogeologic duties by reviewing applications for Groundwater Permits and Registrations and evaluating and analyzing reports to help develop, implement, and track the water use information and water quantity information in South Carolina.
  • Support Groundwater Permitting by managing and interpreting data via ArcGIS, Excel, and Access and assist with database management.
  • Perform on-site visits to permitted facilities to conduct records checks of water use information. Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers relating to the Groundwater Permitting Program.Β 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology or geological engineering. Institutions of higher learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.Β
