Job Summary:

The Assistant Director is a critical leadership role, directly supporting the Executive Director in all aspects of the Conservancy’s operations, with a primary focus on fundraising, development, and nonprofit administration. This role reports directly to the Executive Director, and if necessary, the Board of Director and is responsible for driving key fundraising initiatives, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring the effective administration of the organization. The Assistant Director will also represent the Conservancy in the Executive Director’s absence.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communications, including:
    • Oversight and coordination of communications with members/donors, particularly in the context of PBC branding and engagement
    • Assistance with printing of Conservancy materials (interfacing with Department Managers and marketing/graphic designers) for example on the Annual Report, Conservancy Collateral Pieces, Merchandise, etc.
    • Correspondence with Board of Directors
  • Fundraising and Events assistance
    • Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and events that align with the Conservancy’s mission and long-term goals including the greenprint/historic preservation campaignsΒ 
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors, members, and community partners to increase philanthropic support.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set and achieve annual fundraising targets and growth objectives.
    • Interface with PBC Team, Marketing or Event Planners to create and implement unique offerings
  • Developer/POA/Partner Liaison
    • Assist the Executive Director with interfacing with developer/POA or other partners to advise on natural resource issues, programmatic opportunities, other. Β 
    • assist with creation of the Conservancy Campus
  • Programmatic assistance
    • Support the implementation of programs in environmental planning, land and wildlife management, education, and historical preservation.
    • Lead community outreach efforts to engage residents, members, and stakeholders in the Conservancy’s mission and initiatives.
  • Governance/Board of Director Assistance
    • Assist with strategic planning, budget development, and overall financial oversight.
    • Prepare materials for Board of Directors meetings, including financial reports and governance documents.
    • Manage Board communications and scheduling, ensuring the effective operation of board activities.
  • HR
    • Assistance scheduling staff evaluations
    • Interface with Executive Director, Developer and Board of Directors on hiring issues
  • Administration
    • Assist with filing and record keeping
    • General organization for various departments and locations

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit administration.
  • Experience in conservation or environmental organizations is preferred, but not required.
  • Fundraising & development, and communications expertise
