SUMMARY:

The Commercial Credit Intern is responsible for assisting loan officers, credit analysts, and credit officers in determining the ability to repay and creditworthiness of existing and prospective commercial clients. As an intern with First Bank, you will gain valuable work experience in a professional environment, leveraging your prior experience, education, and involvement. The Commercial Credit Intern will play an essential role in working on important responsibilities, special projects, and networking with our teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Input financial statement data into company software and analyze it to determine the creditworthiness of existing and prospective commercial clients.
  • Prepare cash flow worksheets to demonstrate a borrower's ability to repay loans.
  • Conduct industry analysis, peer comparisons, and other relevant tasks.
  • Develop knowledge of the financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, and competition.
  • Use Moody's Financial Analyst as an analytical tool, as appropriate.
  • Reinforce the application of superior customer service through your own example, along with appropriate follow-through with employees.
  • Gain exposure to the commercial loan approval process by completing commercial credit memos for loan approval.
  • Work closely with the commercial lending team, credit analysts, and credit officers.
  • Develop a working knowledge of loan policy and gain the ability to communicate its interpretation and rationale to other bank employees.
  • Operate a computer terminal or personal computer to obtain and process data.
  • Answer telephones and respond to questions from lending officers.
  • Perform duties specific to the position, as well as other functions as assigned.
  • Complete required compliance courses.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, as well as Federal and State regulations and laws, including the Bank Secrecy Act.

  • Rising college senior pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

  • Strong technology proficiency, as well as above-average communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize work.

  • Demonstrated drive, initiative, and work ethic.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, and visual concentration are required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.
  • The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
