Job Responsibilities


Under the general supervision of the Dance Department Chair, this position will assist with all administrative activities to support the needs of a vibrant, progressive high school dance department. Assist the department chair with email communications to parents, students and administration. Coordinate all needed studio set up and maintenance when needed. Reserve conference rooms and other facilities for classes and departmental events. Organize and maintain all bulletin boards. Reserve the activity bus for department outings. Tally students' recruiting information for the Celebration of Achievement and Spring Dance performance presentation. Prepare minutes for faculty meetings and post on department Google Drive. Assist department chair with collecting and submitting timesheets for part-time employees. Build the weekly schedule based on input from the department chair and faculty and distribute to all stakeholders. Create and maintain rosters of all dance students by grade and track. Maintain the departmental Google Calendar with all important dates. Assist with tracking student injuries and coordinating care through the nurse and outside physical therapists as needed. Annually update the Dance Handbook including the Important Dates. Annually update the F acuity & Staff Contact List, and the Emergency Contact List. Maintain and update the information on both faculty and student Google Drives. Coordinate travel and production needs for the winter and spring dance performances at Gunter Theatre, with the SCGSAH Production Department. Coordinate travel and production needs for out-of-town events such as YAGP and NHSDF, including travel paperwork and booking hotel rooms. Organize video and photography sessions for students, with parental input when needed. Add and organize all video and photos to the Dance Department Google Drive. Take notes at Dance Juries and save to Google Drive. Coordinate all activities for Grand Jete, including communication with SC studios, registration and payments, music coordination, intra-school preparation, competition software, and onsite facilitation with assistance from the department chair and faculty. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience. The successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (G Suite). The successful candidate will have excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and experience in the art of Dance. At least three (3) years of previous experience in an administrative role is preferred.
