EHS Manager

Summary of the Position:

The EHS Manager reports to the Director of Maintenance and Engineering. The EHS Manager implements programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations in the Maryland and South Carolina facilities. The EHS Manager supports the Director of Maintenance and Engineering to achieve the goals of the company.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic direction of the safety initiatives and programs in both MD and SC facilities
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and manages safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures the organization complies with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions for improvement.
  • Manage all environmental permitting
  • Manage Hazardous Waste program
  • Performs internal audits and be familiar with a Corrective Action/Preventive Action Program (CAPA)
  • Participates/leads incident investigations; identifying root cause and develops/monitors action plans to prevent recurrence
  • Researches and recommends safety equipment for purchase.
  • Review completed JHA’s and provide direction and resources to accomplish recommendations
  • Maintains all safety and accident records.
  • Maintains compliance with and keeps abreast of all OSHA regulations.
  • Develops and participates in the training of employees on safety and security policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices in accordance to Nutramax policies and applicable laws.
  • Manages the Worker’s Compensation cases and OSHA 300 logs
  • Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Prepares budgets and secures estimates and cost quotes as needed. Operates within the budget with regard to the expenses for environmental and safety services and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and proactive relationship with management, employees, and local regulatory agencies. Works with the Maintenance Supervisor to facilitate a team-work approach, by combining the expertise and manpower of both departments for the completion of environmental, safety and security related projects.
  • Facilitates monthly safety meetings to report safety initiatives and plant status to management.
  • Advises Senior Management on environmental and safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.
  • Regular attendance is required

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks. Strong judgment and decision-making skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to interface with all types of contractors and vendors. Excellent communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety roles, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. This individual must be forward thinking and proactive to prepare the EHS team for first in class environmental health and safety.

Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in the field or related area or an Associate’s degree with 10+ years of progressive experience in the field. Requires a minimum of 3 years related experience in a manufacturing or GMP environment. Certification in EHS programs and practices REQUIRED. Familiarity with Corrective Action/Preventive Action Program (CAPA) for use in following up and tracking remediation to safety inspection findings. Use of CAPA to trend and monitor the effectiveness of corrections put in place. Radiation Safety Certification/Training desirable
