The Residence Inn Charleston North/Ashley Phosphate is looking for a General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and achieve hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and guest satisfaction, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel.Β 


The JobΒ 

A typical day for the General Manager includes planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing the day-to-day operations of the hotel.


Job Duties Include:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement the day-to-day operations of the hotel.
  • Oversee hotel staffing to include recruitment & selection, orientation, training & development, scheduling, counseling, performance management and other employee relations issues.
  • Craft the budget for the hotel to include sales, marketing, operations and a strategic revenue management plan.
  • Inspect guest rooms and public spaces to maintain standards set forth by company and hotel brand.
  • Initiate and maintain personal contact with guests, clients, and community organizations.
  • Ensure safety and security of the hotel, staff and guests and respond to all emergency situations.
  • Remain current on industry trends and local market activities
  • Review and follow-up on property guest satisfaction scores and comments.
  • Act as a project manager for the execution of capital improvements.
  • Walk the property to ensure public spaces, grounds, work and kitchen areas meet sanitation and cleanliness/maintenance standards.
  • Work with the Director of Sales to implement sales strategy for the property.
  • Manage the implementation of brand standards.
  • Delegate responsibilities for operations and projects to appropriate hotel associates.
  • Manage on-property controllable costs associated with rooms, housekeeping, events, and food and beverage operations.
  • Measure, analyze, and communicate property performance using a variety of financial/non-financial data including controllable costs, sales revenue, guest satisfaction, and employee engagement data.
  • Review property performance on a regular basis with Regional Director.
  • Conduct performance reviews for associates as applicable.
  • Participate in outside sales calls with Director of Sales.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2 plus years of related hotel experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • 2 plus years of experience as a hotel General Manager preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate or listen.
