We are looking for a talented Health and Safety Engineer to join our team specializing in Heath, Safety and Engineering. This is an onsite position and is located in York, South Carolina.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Manages health, safety and environmental projects and programs from identification through implementation driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams and key business stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
  • Builds relationships across functions.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture.
  • Consults with employees giving them the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that will have a direct impact on their work environment.
  • Interprets results from hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement projects or gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations.
  • Monitors and measures health, safety and environmental performance metrics, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to identify and prioritize projects using a risk-based, data-driven approach.
  • Manages project teams to establish project goals, project plans, timelines and milestones.
  • Tracks performance against project goals and timelines.
  • Develops and maintains project related metrics, communicating project status to respective stakeholders.
  • Manages all project related costs, project risk and project resources, working with team to resolve issues.
    Leads projects from identification through implementation utilizing Cummins approved methodologies.
  • Utilizes the plan, do, check, act methodology to drive continuous improvement throughout the site(s).
  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, tools and resources for assigned projects ensuring they are up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions to eliminate or reduce risk to as low as practical.
  • Coaches and develops direct reports and/or others on health, safety and environmental processes based on stakeholder feedback or observations.
  • Supports site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems through participation in site audits.
  • Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

  • Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Additional Information

  • Experience with Industrial Safety Standards preferred. 3-5 years of experience.
  • On-site position, requires engineering degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in this role.Β 
  • No relocation package.
  • Ideally looking for a Safety Engineer
  • Must have understanding of hoist and crane safety- cranes are lifting 30-1900 pound parts
  • Must have a good understanding of ergonomics
  • This site builds and assemble axels for Tractor Trailers and School Buses
  • Design experience is a plus
  • Nice to have Mechanical, Industrial or Heath and Safety Engineering Degrees
  • Must understand how ventilation works
  • Machine Guarding- safety interlock and safety device experience
  • Knowledge of CNC Machining and Welding is nice to have
  • Must be able to run projects on reducing usage- etc.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience, range: $74,800-112,200 Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
