Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.Β 

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Catawba Community Mental Health Center (CCMHC), Chester Clinic, 524 Doctor’s Court, Chester, SC Β  29706

Under the general supervision of the CAF or School Based Services Supervisor, employee will provide therapeutic and emergency services to Child and Adolescent clients and their families. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.

Responsibilities for thisΒ Position TitleΒ include but are not limited to:

  • Provide advanced and complex medically necessary clinical services, including but not limited to, assessment, individual, family & group therapy & crisis intervention services to a targeted population of adult patients incarcerated at the Chester County Detention Center. Services will be provided at the Detention Center. Β 
  • Attend and participate in weekly clinical treatment team meetings and staff with CCMHC MD as needed. Pursue continuing education and training. Maintain positive professional relationships with CMHC staff, and community agencies, as well as patients and their families. Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training, and support services to the community at large.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chester County Detention Center and/or Catawba CMHC leadership.

For MHP Student Loan Repayment:
This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:
A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences, and two (2) years of experience in a clinical counseling program preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Β  Β
