Job Summary
Provides high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced life support including assessment triage, and treatment utilizing established Clinical Operating Guidelines approved by the GHS Mobile Care Medical Control, with scope of practice; assesses the nature and extent of the illness and injury to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical care patient to an appropriate facility. Is qualified to provide care for patients across the life-span in assigned clinical area. Assures that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. Supports MCAS daily operations. When assigned, the Critical Care Paramedic will provide operational oversight of an assigned shift in absence of the assigned supervisor.Essential Functions

Verifies operational readiness of vehicles and equipmentΒ
Maintain cleanliness of MCAS vehiclesΒ
Responds to calls received from the Dispatch Center
Operates MCAS vehicles in a safe, courteous and efficient manner
Assesses, monitors, transports and provides necessary medical treatmentΒ
Prepares written documentation
Attends staff meetings
Performs POC testing with approval of Administration
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned. Completion of Approved Paramedic Training Program
Experience - One (1) year pre-hospital care experience preferred
In Lieu Of
In lieu of a SC Driver's License, a valid driver's license, from a state other than South Carolina, may be accepted if primary residence is not SC. The required active South Carolina AND National Registry EMS certification meets the educational requirements for this role.
A Provisional SC Paramedic certification meets education and Paramedic certification requirements but are required to obtain conventional South Carolina certification and NREMT certification before the provisional certification expires.

SC Paramedic
SCDL - SC Driver's License: Valid driverβs license and an acceptable five-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support
ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
PALSΒ (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required within 90 days of hire
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required within 90 days of hire
PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) - Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of patient equip (Vitals, suction, defib)Β
Working knowledge of Cardiac Monitor, Defibrillator, Pulse Oximeter, Non-Invasive BP Monitor, Infusion Pumps, Other Equipment
Ability to demonstrates skill proficiency on an annual basisΒ
Ability to maintains Professional Certifications by attending in-service training programsΒ
