Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Academic Support Instructor to assist in teaching a Probability and Statistics course. This part-time, temporary position will support the primary instructor by providing face-to-face additional instruction, tutoring, and guidance to students enrolled in an asynchronous online course. The course meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:05 AM to 10:10 AM at our Easley Campus. The position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in mathematics or statistics and a passion for helping students succeed. Β  This is a great opportunity for retired teachers or college students. Β Additional tutoring opportunities may be available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the primary instructor by holding scheduled supplemental instruction times (MWF 9:05-10:10 AM) to clarify course content, answer questions, and facilitate small group discussions.
  • Engage with the asynchronous online course components to provide feedback, answer student queries, and ensure students stay on track with the course material.
  • Develop and deliver supplemental instructional materials, such as practice problems, study guides, and review sessions.
  • Support students in understanding key concepts in probability, statistics, and data analysis, ensuring they are well-prepared for exams and assignments.
  • Communicate regularly with the primary instructor to align on course content, student progress, and instructional strategies.
  • Encourage and motivate students to engage with the material and participate in class activities.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Math Education, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of probability and statistics concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience, preferably at the college level.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students.
  • Availability to hold additional office hours as needed.
