Job duties:

  • The Program Coordinator I under direct supervision of the Food and Nutrition Program Coordinator performs general casework duties by determining client eligibility for the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). Β Assist with planning and administration of farmer training and certification, voucher distribution, and financial monitoring of bank transactions and budgetary information. Β Assist in statewide efforts to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and reduce food insecurity through the Food and Nutrition Programs.Β 

  • Assist with operation of the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program to include, but not limited to, State Plan development/review/submittal, annual review, program monitoring, training/technical assistance, inter-agency coordination, financial oversight to include review of contractual services and expenditures, vendor recruitment, compliance reviews, policy interpretation, information dissemination, and federal and state reporting. Β Assist with incoming calls and make outgoing calls for the SFMNP and other Food and Nutrition Programs as required. Β Work extensively with clients via telephone (e. g., clients seeking information or making requests regarding SFMNP and other Food and Nutrition Programs).

  • Assist in statewide efforts to increase participation in SNAP and reduce food insecurity through all Food and Nutrition Programs. Β Assist in the development and maintenance of Food and Nutrition Program policies and procedures. Β Provide nutrition, dietary, and food management information to state/local staff and Food and Nutrition Program participants. Β Assist in the development and maintenance of Food and Nutrition Program policies and procedures. Β Attend and facilitate Consultation Sharing Sessions and community outreach activities as appropriate for Food and Nutrition Programs.

  • Serve as backup to assist with the coordination and maintenance of Disaster SNAP (DSNAP) plans for each county. Β Coordinate and assist with training related to the implementation of DSNAP. Β If necessary, provide assistance during a state DSNAP to include, but not limited to, DSNAP response, application submission, benefit issuance/EBT services, certification, and post DSNAP reporting.

  • Serve as a member of the State Disaster Emergency Response Team (ESF 11). Β Team members report to the State Emergency Operations Center as needed to assist in the acquisition and delivery of USDA food for disaster feeding operations.

  • Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.Β 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED and relevant program experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Β A bachelor's degree may be substituted for five (5) years relevant program experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license. Some travel is required - some overnights and weekends. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
