Description


The Accountant reports directly to the CFO. This individual is responsible for the accumulation of data and entering journal entries related to monthly financial statements. He/she will be responsible for improving accounting and related processes for accurately reporting and improving the financial profitability of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to the following);

  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation related to generating the financial statements.
  • Input of journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare necessary documentation on a monthly basis.
  • Assist CFO in analyzing financial reports and data for the financial benefit of the organization and to meet federal requirements.
  • Reviews general ledger and financial statement for accuracy and account analysis.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all cash accounts.
  • Reconciles petty cash and front desk funds for all locations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the UDS, year-end audit, budgets and cost reports.
  • Print and compile monthly balance sheet, income statements (all sites) journal entries and related reports.
  • Back up for accounts payable and payroll functions.
  • Perform internal audits to determine compliance with company policies and federal guidelines.
  • Assist payroll and HR departments in reporting data that will improve reporting and financial stability of the organization.
  • Assists accounts payable in timely preparation of benefit data for input into A/P System. (AN)Β 
  • Assists CFO in preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assists A/P in input of budgets
  • Responsible for reporting and inventorying controls of Fixed Assets.
  • Assists Controller and Pharmacy Manager in inventory control and reporting.
  • Financial activity of the Pharmacy.
  • Assists CFO in projects to control expenses of the organization.
  • Bill for Best Chance, High Risk Pregnancy, Ladies Benevolence, Head Start, New Morning Foundation and Other Grants, Hospitalization (Note: Must Automate).
  • Re-file, redirect, research, and adjust all non-cash remittances
  • Post payments, adjustments, etc.; from third party remittance to patient accounts (maintain posted mail logs and supporting documentation for Accounting).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.





Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to function effectively as a team member and facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Experience in FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) industry preferred
  • Experience in Healthcare billing and accounting systems is a plus
  • Requires strong organizational skills, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to make arithmetic computations by machine rapidly and accurately, to read, compare and compile numerous data and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be computer literate in accounting software excel, word and outlook.
  • Must have interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to handle employee / patient / vendor questions and concerns and deal with a variety of accounting professionals.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment in dealing with accounting data and people.
  • Must possess a valid S.C. Driver’s License and reliable transportation.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in progressive accounting and financial statement preparation and analysis.
