Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated technical professional to work in the Information Systems & Technology organization located at Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) in Charleston, SC. Β This organization is responsible for all IT operations supporting classified and unclassified enterprise and shipboard networks at NPTU Charleston. Β The System Administrator position requires the ability to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures within all aspects of IT operations including network switches, servers, storage devices, security and applications. Β The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment directly supporting the training of naval nuclear operators. Β Job responsibilities include the installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of all equipment and infrastructure related to network operations. Β This will include routing and testing of new network cables; installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing networked clients, printers, switches, servers and storage devices; and ensuring implementation of all applicable security requirements for the associated equipment. Β Application support includes updating and troubleshooting enterprise and shipboard applications, as well as programming and maintaining scripts. Β The successful candidate must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects, regularly adjust work planning, and integrate work responsibilities within the organization and site. Β They will also require the ability to participate in projects that implement infrastructure, application or systems solutions ensuring timely delivery of functional, technical and security requirements.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Cisco network hardware, configurations and infrastructure including CCNA/CCNP certification
  • Comp TIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications
  • Experience with the installation, termination and troubleshooting of cooper and fiber optic cabling
  • Virtual machine experience
  • Vulnerability Management experience
  • Experience creating and maintaining scripts (Powershell)
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with General Dynamics Taclane network encryptors
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong teaming background
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Ability to interface across multiple sites
  • Project Management experience

Pay Range

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
