Job Description Summary

The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor positions with focus on substance use disorder (SUD) research. Major topics of interest include (but are not limited to): circuit, genetic, epigenetic, and molecular mechanisms underlying SUD. Researchers using cutting-edge technologies involving single-cell in vivo imaging, next-generation sequencing, novel tool development, and/or bioinformatic/computational approaches are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-quality publications and extramural funding appropriate to current rank.

Successful candidates will benefit from a highly collaborative research environment and a competitive start-up package in a basic science department that contains nearly $17 million in extramural grant awards, active core facilities, and a strong commitment to faculty mentoring and collegiality. The department's strong addiction research focus includes a NIDA PS0 Charleston Opioid Center on Addiction (COCA), a successful PhD graduate program, and two NIH-funded (NIDA,NIAAA) T32 training grants for pre- and postdoctoral scholars.
