Timely and accurately assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patientsΒ
Contact practitioner to obtain ordersΒ
Administer prescribed medication, treatments and other tasks as ordered by the practitionerΒ
Provide emergency first aid care, when appropriateΒ
Check and record vital signs, peak flows, blood glucose checks, weight, and other diagnostic tests on-site, when appropriateΒ
Triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick callΒ
Collect and record data for statistical reporting on the CQIΒ
Record information in chronic clinic and outcome study documents as indicatedΒ
Report reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the patientsβ emotional or physical conditionΒ
Provide patient education on topics such as correctional facilityβs policies and discharge planningΒ
Record care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate formsΒ
Collaborate and coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment, as directed by the practitionerΒ
Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions as requiredΒ
Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reaction/overdoseΒ
Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritionΒ
Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of social and behavioral sciences, particularly as applied to the correctional institutional settingΒ
Recommend improved procedures, equipment, and supplies to your supervisorΒ
Notify supervisor of medical or security incidentsΒ
Present/participate in in-service education sessionsΒ
Perform duties within the scope of practice mandated by state and local standardsΒ
Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required by government agenciesΒ
Oversee and delegate duties as expected and allowed under the RN scope of practiceΒ
May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilitiesΒ
May be asked to act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site ManagerΒ
May be asked to train new hires and coworkersΒ
Any and all other duties as assignedΒ
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Β
Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standingΒ
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on trainingΒ
Excellent documentation skillsΒ
Knowledge of the RN scope of practiceΒ
