Preferred Qualifications
PhD in a journalism, mass communication, communication, or related field, plus relevant academic experience (at least seven years for Associate Professor rank or at least nine years for full Professor rank). Evidence of scholarly activity in journals, university presses, or other publication outlets consistent with School and College-level expectations for the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor. Record of teaching effectiveness aligned with the SJMCβs guidelines for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor. Evidence of national or international scholarly reputation related to scholarβs areas of expertise. Ability to mentor graduate student research. Potential or a well-established record in attracting extramural funding related to scholarβs areas of expertise.
