Job Goal:
Ā
The job of Cafeteria Operator is done for the purpose of preparing and distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel; and maintaining facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.Ā
Ā
Performance Responsibilities:
- Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of making them available to students and staff.
- Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Cleans utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.
- Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying the quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.
- Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment.
- Prepares daily item counts and associated reports for the purpose of providing documentation for items served.
- Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements.
- Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
- Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
- Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requires cashiering and operation of register system to collect money and meal counts; consolidation of money and meal totals and preparation of deposits.

Work Attire:
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry food items, supplies, and equipment (regular handling of bulk food containers, trays, and boxes).
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping to retrieve items from low shelves and storage areas. Reaching above shoulders and below waist to access equipment, ingredients, or storage.
- Ability to push and pull carts, racks, and equipment.
- Ability to grip, grasp, and manipulate utensils, kitchen tools, and small equipment.
- Fine motor skills for tasks such as portioning, cutting, and garnishing food.
- Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced environment, meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to work in hot, humid, and occasionally cold environments (near ovens, walk-in freezers).
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents with appropriate PPE.
- Ability to work in noisy, high-traffic areas.

180 Days; Salary based on District Scale for Cafeteria
