Description

Assists physician during procedures.Β  Ensures endoscopic suite is adequately prepared for the procedures. Ensures all instruments are cleaned and sterilized and functioning properly.Β  Participates in department staff meetings and performance improvement activities.Β 



Responsibilities
  • Standards of care initiated in accordance with unit standards.Β  Β  Β  Appropriate resources identified and utilized in accordance with unit guidelines.Β  Decisions made within scope of practice.Β 
  • Possess basic knowledge of policies and procedures.Β  Β  Β  Demonstrates solid clinical knowledge base and safe clinical skills.Β  Recognizes and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition.Β  Effective time management.Β 
  • Evaluates and modifies care based on patient response.Β  Β  Β  Evaluates and modifies standards of care based on achieved patient outcomes.Β  Adapts procedures to be age-specific.Β 
  • Schedules tests and treatments efficiently in accordance with established policies and proceduresΒ 
  • Attends vaginal deliveries to assist RN and physicianΒ 
  • Performs related duties as required.Β 


Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum Education:Β  Some college or vocational training required.Β 
  • Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:Β 
    • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
    • A person may not practice Surgical Technology in a healthcare facility unless the person meets one of the following requirements:Β 
      • Is currently certified with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) ORΒ 
      • Is a new graduate from an accredited education program for Surgical Technology. A new graduate may practice for up to three months before completing certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), NBSTSA certification is required within 90 days of employment. ORΒ 
      • Is a person who has completed an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or in the United States Public Health Service. ORΒ 
      • Is a person provides evidence that they were employed to practice Surgical Technology in a health care facility in South Carolina prior to January 1, 2008.Β 

Preferred:

  • Experience: Up to 1 to 2 years of job-related experience is preferred.Β
