Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Disease


Job Summary

4. Knowledgeable in medications and exhibits the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physicians, nurses, residents, students, and other health care practitioners.
5. Knows and follows institutional pharmacy policies and procedures and medication policies and procedures.
6. Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications.
7. Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration.
8. Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order as needed.
9. Works primarily in a decentralized model providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to pharmacokinetics, drug dosing consultations, and adult parenteral nutrition management.
10. Provide drug information, drug therapy recommendations, and education to physicians, nurses, patients, pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and students related to assigned clinical areas.
11. Reporting of adverse drug events (ADE) within assigned clinical areas.
12. Development of department educational/monitoring tools and in-services to promote continued growth of clinical Pharmacy services and up to date practice as it pertains assigned clinical areas.
14. Assist with protocol development as necessary related to assigned clinical areas.
15. Participate in hospital committees related to assigned clinical areas where pharmacy involvement is needed.
16. Review appropriate use of medications to include optimization of use and cost considerations.
17. Contribute to the continued development of the practice of the profession of pharmacy.


Work Schedule: Full Time; 80 hours biweekly


Qualifications /Training:
β€’ Β  Β PGY1, required
β€’ Β  Β Ability to work independently, required
β€’ Β  Β Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
β€’ Β  Β Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required
β€’ Β  Β Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
