Scope of Responsibilities: The afternoon Teacher Assistant's role is to support the Beyond the Classroom Director in planning and implementing the afternoon program for early education and elementary students.
General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Adhere to set schedule including snack, homework and outside and inside play and games
- Supervise students at all times to ensure safety and security (physically, emotionally, spiritually)
- Treat all children with dignity, gentleness, and respect
- Flexible in working with all grade levels (Pre-K 2 - Grade 5)
- Other duties as assigned by the beyond the classroom coordinator
Qualified Applicants:
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School
- Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Experience working with school-age children
- Independent, able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to sit, bend, stand, or sit on low chairs or floor as needed in care of and interactions with students
- Must be able to evacuate students
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
