Summary:


Perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Epworth buildings exteriors and grounds landscaping.


Job Task Summary:

  • Performs minor and major repair of all building's exteriors and grounds.

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections on building's exterior and landscape on a scheduled basis.

  • Retrieve work orders and document completion

  • Document safety and security problems, reporting to the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.

  • Performs exterior planting of seasonal flowers and their maintenance.

  • Performs preparation and painting of exterior railing, exterior doors and exterior trim.

  • Performs maintenance and cleaning of exterior gutter systems.


  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.


  • Rotate on call schedule responding to calls within a 15-minute time period Other duties may be assigned

Supervision Responsibilities:


May exercise supervision over assigned contract workers.


Qualifications for the Position:


Knowledge of exterior ground maintenance equipment to include mowers, tractor, edger, hedge trimmer, chain saw, pressure washer and painting equipment.

Ability to determine and prioritize tasks.

Must be able to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, DLED, DSS central registry and sex offender's registry.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of responsible experience in building and grounds and landscape maintenance; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.

REASONING ABILITY

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
