Performs intermediate human support work supervising the safe use of public swimming facilities by pool visitors; does related work as required. Β Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.
Ensuring safety of swimmers, maintaining swimming pool and facilities
Supervising pool operations, preparing records and reports
Plans, supervises and assigns daily lifeguard tasks
Thorough knowledge of water safety rules and life saving, first aid practices and techniques.
Experience as a lifeguard and maintaining a swimming pool.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma.
Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
Minimum age is 15. Must pass drug test, background check, reference check and have a valid SC driversβ license.
Required Certifications: American Red Cross Basic and Instructor Level certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, and Preventing Disease Transmission certificates. Β Certified Pool Operator's License. Β Swim Instructor Certifications and Water Fitness Certifications are preferred but not required.
