Company Description

The Charleston LGC Group site manufactures Reference Materials (RM’s) and Certified Reference Materials (CRM’s) to support the environmental, food safety, forensic, public health, petrochemical and industrial hygiene industries. The site also manufactures environmental sampling products.

Job Description

The Logistics Lead will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, shipping, and receiving of finished and unfinished goods including chemical standard reference materials and controlled substances, ensuring strict compliance with all applicable regulations.

This role involves supervising and training staff, optimizing logistics processes, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring the secure storage and handling of sensitive materials.

Key Responsibilities


Supervisory Responsibilities:Β 

  • Lead and mentor a team, assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure a safe work environment.

Warehouse Operations including Safety Management:Β 

  • Oversee shipping, receiving, storage, and retrieval of materials, manage inventory, ensure proper segregation, and conduct audits. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation, ensuring proper reporting and tracking of safety incidences.
  • Develop and optimize logistical processes improving operational efficiencies as monitored by KPIs and reducing costs where needed.

Controlled Substance Management:Β 

  • Ensure compliance with DEA regulations, manage secure storage according to DEA specifications, maintain accurate records, process required documentation, and verify shipments.

Inventory Management:

  • Ensuring accurate records of received and shipped items, managing inventory levels, and coordinating material movements.Β Coordinate with suppliers, vendors and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods.
  • Manage the storage and organization of materials, ensuring proper inventory levels and minimal disruptions to operations.
    Develop a cycle counting system to maintain accuracy of materials to support operations and allow for ease of yearly counting of inventory.
  • Implement tracking system for shipments and deliveries ensuring accurate and timely reporting and meeting all established KPIs.
  • Segregates and categorizes waste on site and prepares for external vendor pick up.
  • Complete all manifests, shipping documents and other necessary documentation according to standard operating procedures.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Develop and implement SOPs, conduct risk assessments, collaborate on security systems, stay updated on regulations, and ensure personnel training on hazardous materials and safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain all compliance around the secure storage of controlled substances within the facility, controlled substance safe(s) alarm codes, combination codes and all necessary training.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify process improvements, utilize data analytics, and collaborate with other departments.Β 

Waste Management:

  • Segregates and categorizes waste on site and prepares for external vendor pick up.
  • Schedules and organizes waste pickups a Charleston Site

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Degree plus at least 8 years of experience in Warehouse and Logistics Managementβ€”or equivalent combination of educational and work experience, including a minimum of three years in a supervisory position
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental health standards, ISO experience a plus.
  • Experience managing budgets and negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead Cross functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management and warehouse logistics.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO17025/ISO 17034/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in applying DOT/IATA shipping guidelines and procedures
  • Familiarity with RCRA hazardous waste regulations and HAZWOPER safety protocols

  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and squat
  • Lift over 60 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Schedule/Core Hours – Monday through Friday during the company’s standard hours of operation. However, the position may require weekend and/or evening work to meet business needs.
  • Work environment – primarily an office setting with warehouse and manufacturing exposure.
  • Extreme Conditions – the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Adherence to company Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy
  • Potential exposure to hazardous or caustic materials
