The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position.Β  Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Assists with the implementation of the Agency’s hauled waste and grease control programs, including the enforcement of associated regulations.
  • Enforces compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to hauled waste and grease control.
  • Performs a variety of field work to include sampling, inspections and audits.
  • Routinely utilizes computer software including Microsoft Office, SwiftComply, Teams, SharePoint, Linko, esri software, and Power BI.
  • Inspects food service establishments and commercial customers.
  • Provides information, advice, assistance and instruction to food service personnel, transporters and commercial Users as needed to ensure compliance with ReWa’s Sewer Use Regulation, and State and Federal regulations.
  • Assists with the implementation of the Agency’s Commercial User Identification, Survey and Inspection initiatives.
  • Serves as liaison between businesses and the Agency on matters of regulatory compliance, permitting, finance and engineering.
  • Develops and maintains customer database(s).
  • Provides support and assistance with all Pretreatment Program activities for the organization.
  • Assists with activities required for the compliance and proper administration of the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
  • Supports the industrial pretreatment program activities for industries and commercial users in the service area.
  • Assists with the inspection and approval of industrial pretreatment facilities to ensure compliance with program regulations.
  • Analyzes and interprets problems and develops solutions for operational or technical problems associated with the compliance of hauled waste/industrial/commercial facilities/food service establishments.
  • Assists in coordinating assigned activities and functions with those of other agency divisions and departments, County/municipal departments and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Reviews engineering plans and specifications for compatibility with program guidelines.
  • Coordinates with others to investigate industrial impact on sewer lines and Water Resource Recovery Facilities.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance from customers and the general public regarding areas of responsibility.
  • Requires handling or using machines, tools or equipment requiring moderate instruction and experience, such as sampling equipment, monitors.
  • Attends meetings, training, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Subject to 24/7 recall to duty as required for compliance support and environmental or system emergencies, etc.
  • Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Requires bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in chemistry, biology, environmental science, engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in laboratory, wastewater and/or industrial pretreatment program operations.
  • Requires the ability to work effectively with hauled waste, food service, industrial customers, and commercial users.
