Job Title: Provisional Building Inspector

GovFirst is seeking a Provisional Building Inspector to support our client in Hilton Head Island, SC to conduct inspections within the limitations of their state license, of residential or commercial construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes, laws, and regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Β 

Duties:

    • Conduct inspection of residential construction projects for compliance with all Building, Plumbing, Electrical, and Mechanical CodesΒ 
    • Interpret codes and regulations and explains permit and compliance conditions
    • Document and maintain complete and accurate records of all inspections and any regulatory actions taken
    • Confer with and provide information regarding code requirements to developers, engineers, architects, property owners, the public, and other interested parties as required
    • Address any complaints or problems from concerned parties, and take appropriate measures to ensure resolutionΒ 
    • Investigate complaints regarding unauthorized or non-compliant construction, and issues β€œstop work orders” as necessary
    • Compare β€œas-builts” of completed development with the approved plans and works with Code Enforcement Officers if the β€œas-builts” are not in compliance with the approve plans
    • Initiate inspection and enforcement of potential LMO violations and provides demonstrative evidence or expert testimony as required.


Requirements

Required Skills:

    • One year of technical training or construction experience
    • Valid Driver's license
    • Must acquire State Residential Inspector registration within the State allotted timeframe (12, 24, 36, or 48 months of hire)

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • U.S. Citizen
