Job Overview:

The Recreation Associate will assist in the daily operations of the recreation center, providing customer service, managing facility rentals, and supporting a variety of recreational programs. This position is part-time and requires flexible availability, including some nights and weekends. Examples of Duties

Examples of Duties

  • Front Desk Operations: Greet visitors, answer phones, and assist with inquiries regarding programs, rentals, payments, and services.
  • Booking and Rentals: Schedule facility rentals for events, ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for successful execution.
  • Afterschool Programs: Work directly with afterschool programs, assisting with planning, organizing, and supervising activities.
  • Special Events: Provide support for special events, including setup, registration, and day-of logistics.
  • Summer Camps & All-Day Programs: Assist with summer camps and full-day programs, working closely with children and camp staff to ensure a safe and engaging experience.
  • Athletics: Assist with the coordination of athletic programs, including scheduling games, managing participant registration, and providing on-site support.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.

Ability to pass a background check and any required clearances.

Required to work 15- 28 hours per week.

Valid driver’s license preferred.

CPR/AED certified (or obtained within 30 days of employment)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESΒ 

  • Assists the facility manager in the oversight of all recreation and facility practices, policies and systems that are necessary for achieving the recreation and facility strategic and business plan goals.
  • Promotes facilities, programs, and services when in contact with members and guests and as needed, assists members and guests with recreation and facility program registrations.
  • Assists in the management of all leagues and recreation activities, including employees and contractors instructing/servicing these programs.
  • Ensures the safety of all facility guests.
  • Adheres to all written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc.
  • Conducts oneself at all times in a manner of professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies, and standards of the Recreation Center. Β This includes wearing County county-approved uniform and nametag.

  • Arrives at work every day, on time as scheduled. Β  Works various shifts, including evenings and weekends, special events, and added hours of operation.
  • May drive the department bus, a 26/32 passenger bus, and/or 15-passenger bus, and/or golf cart as necessary.
  • Attends all scheduled employee staff meetings. Β

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 17 years old.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in recreation, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, recreation programs, or related fields is preferred.Β 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Physical Demands/Supplemental

PHYSICALΒ DEMANDS

No special physical exertion is required for performing everyday activities; however, the incumbent must be able to lift 30 pounds, (i.e. computer paper, mail deliveries, and supplies).Β 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed indoors in a climate-controlled office; however, some exposure to outdoor weather conditions may be involved while performing County errands, working special events, driving a county vehicle, and transporting passengers.
