JOB SUMMARY

Β 

The purpose of this position is toΒ perform generalized and specialized work functions associated with providing effective and efficient services to ensure a positive experience for Sports Tourism tournament staff and guests.

Β 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs general guest service and administrative duties; greets and assists guests, including athletes, spectators, officials, volunteers and tournament staff.
  • Controls entry and access to events according to established guidelines.
  • Distribute and collects surveys for demographic data to guests and participants as directed.
  • Assists with sponsorship activations including maintaining hydration stations, distribution of promotional materials and maintaining signage.
  • Collects and accounts for money transactions related to events
  • Assists event supervisor with event set ups, and tear downs, for events held at the City’s outdoor athletic venues: sets up fields and various equipment and supplies as required for each event; sets up barricades for crowd control; and performs clean up after the events.
  • Opens and closes facilities; ensures cleanliness of facilities; moves, sets up, and tears down tents, tables, chairs, and other equipment as needed, inspects such for proper and safe operating condition; and reports problems or needed repairs to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

Education and Experience:

Must be at least 16 years old.

Licenses or Certifications:

None.

Special Requirements:Β 

Must be able to work varying shifts including days, evenings and weekends and holidays. No minimum number of hours guaranteed.

  • Ability to provide limited first aid and assistance to individuals.
  • Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control actions of equipment, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium work. The employee is frequently required to apply 30 pounds of force to move objects. The employee is occasionally required to exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally requires: grasping, handling, hearing voices and distinguishing among sounds, lifting, manual dexterity, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, expressing ideas by the spoken word, visual acuity in data/color/observations/operating equipment/inspect defects or measurements, and walking.Β 

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature extremes, heights, confined spaces, bright / dim lights or rude / irate customers, electric currents, traffic hazards, or toxic agents.
