Job Description

As a Safety group Leader for Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will be challenged with building a safety health service line within BLE's greater environmental services division. The individual will use their knowledge of health and safety regulations and policies to provide these services to BLE's existing client base while also expanding the internal corporate safety program and ensure compliance with the company's safety philosophy. General duties of the Safety Group Leader include, but are not limited to, the following:

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, safety science, industrial hygiene, or related scientific or technical field.
  • 8+ years of industrial and/or consulting experience, with emphasis on health and safety.
  • Ability to develop new client relationships and foster existing client relationships.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state, local and industry regulations. Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Local travel 2-3 days per week, with overnight travel approximately once per month.

What you will be doing daily

  • Pursue and develop existing and new clients to provide health and safety services.
  • Participate in industry events to develop clients by expanding BLE's presence in the health and safety market.
  • Develop training materials and perform pertinent training sessions for both internal and external clients.
  • Develop and update various OSHA written safety programs, plans and procedures for a variety of industrial, institutional, and construction-related clients, such as ladder safety, LOTO, machine guarding, fire prevention, etc.
  • Perform health and safety compliance audits and program reviews.
  • Inspect workplace environments, activities and conditions to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards by inspecting machinery, safety equipment, ergonomic risks, etc.
  • Prepare formal written reports for safety and health findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Review Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for chemicals and provide recommendations on industrial hygiene monitoring, PPE requirements, exposure concerns, material handling practices, etc.
  • Prepare Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) for specific operational tasks.
  • Identify, evaluate, and provide recommendations for hazards associated with highly hazardous chemicals and process safety management (PSM) requirements.
  • Develop, lead, and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
  • Execute industrial hygiene monitoring in accordance with OSHA and/or NIOSH approved methods.
  • Support accident investigation to identify root problems, eliminate existing hazards, and develop solutions that will reduce the risk of future accidents.
  • Provide routine on-call, on-site safety related support for clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • S. Degree
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial hygienist (CIH)
