School Counselor (leave replacement to tenure track)

The Livingston Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered School Counselor to serve the Grade 6 students at Mt. Pleasant Middle School beginning August 26, 2026.  This position offers a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate to begin the school year as a leave replacement and transition into a tenure-track School Counselor position effective December 1, 2026, with no interruption in service.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide comprehensive school counseling services to Grade 6 students in support of their academic, social, emotional, and career development.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, child study team members, and families to promote student success and well-being.
• Conduct individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and student support activities as appropriate.
• Assist students with the transition to middle school and foster a positive, inclusive school climate.
• Maintain appropriate student records and documentation in accordance with district procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
• Participate as an active member of the school's multidisciplinary support team.

Qualifications:

• Valid New Jersey School Counselor Certificate required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with middle school students, families, and staff.
• Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling practices and student support services.
