Summary of the Position:

The Senior EHS Coordinator reports to the EHS Manager. The Senior Coordinator supports the EHS Manager in the administration of programs to achieve the goals of the EHS department and overall company goals. Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the EHS Coordinator.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of procedures, training and presentations related to EHS programs, regulatory changes and internal needs to provide consistent communication to all departments
  • Assist in development of standard operating procedures for operational, maintenance, quality functions to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of EHS process and systems
  • Ensures the organization complies with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions for improvement.
  • Performs internal audits and be familiar with a Corrective Action/Preventive Action Program (CAPA)
  • Participates/leads incident investigations; identifying root cause and develops/monitors action plans to prevent recurrence
  • Researches and recommends safety equipment for purchase.
  • Maintains all safety and accident records.
  • Certifies Emergency Responders for the company and conducts quarterly training
  • Maintains compliance with and keeps abreast of all OSHA regulations.
  • Develops and participates in the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices in accordance to Nutramax policies and applicable laws.
  • Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Assist EHS Manager with implementation of Hazardous Waste management program
  • Facilitates regular safety meetings to report safety initiatives and plant status to employees.
  • Provides safety support to the all facilities to include the Maryland facility on an as needed basis.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years related experience in a manufacturing or GMP environment
  • Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to interface with all types of contractors and vendors
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety roles, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience, an Associate's degree with 5 years of related experience, or 10 years of progressive experience in administration of EHS programs
  • Familiarity with Corrective Action/Preventive Action Program (CAPA) for use in following up and tracking remediation to safety inspection findings
  • Use of CAPA to trend and monitor the effectiveness of corrections put in place
  • Hazardous Waste experience desirable
