SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Manager works to ensure the organization has enough volunteers to fulfill our mission and achieve the goals outlined in the annual strategic plan. The position is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising the volunteer staff of the organization. This also includes assisting in the development and implementation of a sustainable volunteer strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform all functions of volunteer management as follows:
- Identify the volunteer needs of the organization annually; in coordination with the one-year operational plan
- Supervise and manage all Volunteer Coordinators and Volunteer Site Hosts
- Execute program goals and policies in accordance with Habitat for Humanity International's (HFHI) Volunteer Services Affiliate Operations Manual, and the approved agency operational guidelines
- Recruit and coordinate the on-boarding and orientation of all volunteers; provide safety training
- Enhance and execute systems and best practices to ensure a sustainable volunteer engagement and retention program
- Maintain volunteer surveys to gather feedback, recommendations and data for improving delivery of service
- In coordination with the direct supervisor, determine the measurable outcomes for successful program achievement
- Ensure volunteer retention strategies are utilized to guarantee adequate volunteer levels throughout the organization
- Develop and implement a best practice volunteer appreciation program
- Provide on-site support to construction build sites, home preservation projects and ReStores when needed
- Support the engagement and training of construction QAT members and Task Leaders, Home Preservation Crew Members and ReStore A-Team

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Oversee volunteer data entry and administration of Volunteer Management database.
- Maintain data entry into Project Management software program.
- Monitor and enforce safety practices on the build site.
Fiscal Management
- Provide input in developing Volunteer Services annual budget.
- Manage the volunteer program budget based on the approved organizational budget.
Planning & Development
- Provide recommendations to direct supervisor for review and revision of Volunteer Services Strategic Plan.
- Attend appropriate continuing education courses and professional development opportunities; identify suitable seminars and conferences for direct reports.
- Compile and analyze data (internal and environmental) to support decisions and identify trends that can impact processes and outcomes.
Policies & Standards

- Promote the HFHGC mission whenever possible in the community within the confines of the agency's policies.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure that all designated HFHGC Volunteer staff and volunteers receive, in compliance with HFHI, Competent Person Training.
- Ensure all designated HFHGC Volunteer staff and volunteers receive safety and first aid training in accordance with the agency's schedule.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
- Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year minimum of supervisory experience preferred.
- Competence in a range of information technology applications including Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of non-profit organizations and the legal framework within which they are governed.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines; must be able to prioritize a complex workload
- Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas both orally and in writing; and work with a diverse constituent base
- Current and valid driver's license
